Founder and director of IMAP, Tracy Byrne, said the catalyst for forming the organisation was a lack of industry and public awareness around managed accounts. As the looming growth sector in financial services, Byrne said it is important managed accounts providers have a forum for sharing ideas and opinions as well as a body to represent their interests.
“The managed account space tends to be dominated by the small groups rather than the larger institutions, so the idea is to get a louder, stronger voice for that segment of the industry,” Byrne said.
However, Byrne said IMAP was a clean slate for prospective members, who have a mandate to drive the association towards meeting their needs.
“It’s a member’s benefit association – we want the members to actually consider what they want. The first meeting is about creating an agenda for the association.”
The first IMAP meeting will be held in a Minter Ellison meeting space provided by Stephen Etkind on 29 September. Enquiries can be made through enquiries@imap.asn.au or www.imap.asn.au
