As everyone is aware, Standard and Poor's downgraded the US debt from AAA to AA+ on Friday evening. This, along with concerns about Europe's debt problems and the increasing probability that we are or may soon enter another recession, led to the 600-point fall in the Dow Jones Averages on Monday. As I write this on Tuesday morning, the Dow is up over 100 points and has been up over 200 points. IMAP meet with ASIC to gain better understanding of ASICs interest in MDA's

IMAP & Gold seal: MDA Responsible Manger, July 2011 Sydney
IMAP (Institute of Managed Account Providers) was launched in February this year as the industry body for Managed Account practitioners in Australia. Over the past 5 months IMAP identified there was a gap in the knowledge of RM's whose organisations have MDA authorisation for their licence or who are intending to acquire this. Toby Potter, Chair of IMAP told us that many of the RMs who subscribe to IMAP advised they are not comfortable with their level of understanding of their general obligations and responsibilities as well as the specific ASIC requirements of the MDA licence.
